Aiming to Help Raise the Level of Healthcare in Myanmar-

Sysmex Corporation (HQ: Kobe, Japan; Chairman and CEO: Hisashi Ietsugu) announces that its subsidiary in Singapore, Sysmex Asia Pacific, has established a branch in Yangon, Myanmar.
With the new branch, the Company aims to enhance its service and after-sales support to distributors and customers in the rapidly growing market of Myanmar. At the same time, the branch will increase Sysmex’s presence in Myanmar and contribute to the development of healthcare in the country.

Myanmar is one of fastest-growing countries in Southeast Asia, recording 2014 GDP growth of 8.5%. Considered to be Asia’s last frontier, many foreign companies are entering and expanding the business in Myanmar, notably in the finance, insurance and construction sectors. In the area of healthcare, Myanmar’s government is increasing its spending on healthcare in line with the country’s economic growth. However, healthcare spending in Myanmar is low among Southeast Asian countries, both as a percentage of GDP and in terms of per capita expenditure.

Sysmex Asia Pacific, the Company’s regional headquarters for the AP region, has been working with local distributors in Myanmar to distribute its products and provide service support. These products include hematology, hemostasis, and urinalysis analyzers and reagents, as well as compact and portable instruments for infectious diseases manufactured by Sysmex Partec, a Sysmex subsidiary since 2013.

The Myanmar Branch commences operations in May 2016. In addition to enhancing service and after-sales support to distributors and customers, the branch will conduct market research aimed at new business expansion. Furthermore, through scientific support and other activities targeting healthcare professionals, the branch aims to contribute raising the overall level of healthcare in Myanmar.
